Information

The change of government has brought in significant changes but there are still many more policy issues to be addressed.? In the course of ?business as usual? we will be holding our 2008 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Melbourne on Monday November 24, at 6.30 pm at Causeway House, 306 Little Collins Street, 4th floor The Chellew Room.

Causeway House is on the corner of Little Collins street and the Causeway ? entrance on the Causeway.?

We aim to follow the AGM with a public discussion at approximately 7.00pm on the current state of asylum seeker policy: How far have we come in the last year, and how much is left to do? Speakers will include AJA National Coordinator, Kate Gauthier and David Mann, Coordinator of the Refugee and Immigration Legal Centre.

As a member of AJA you are entitled to nominate to become a member of the Board of the AJA. A nomination form is available below on this page.

The AGM will include the election of office bearers including the chair and treasurer as well as ordinary members of the board. The Board currently has 7 members. All present office-holders and board members are prepared to continue in their roles.

Some brief background on the requirements and expectations involved in being a board member are given below.? If you need further information please contact the offfice in sufficient time to allow you to lodge your nomination by the closing date of November 17th.

AJA has members and supporters around Australia, and while we appreciate that it will be geographically impossible for many members to attend, I look forward to meeting all those who choose to attend our AGM and the public meeting afterwards.

Thank you again for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely

?
